Here at The Smart Method we've been creating web sites since
1994 (when most of us didn't realise that the web even existed)
and today we use FrontPage all the time as well as other leading
Web authoring tools. We've worked on massive data-centric
multi-million pound projects as well as humble one-page shop
front
sites. We feel very qualified to express an opinion upon the
excellence of FrontPage as a web site authoring tool!
Where FrontPage is without equal is in its ability
to do extremely complex things in a very simple way. You can
add search facilities, response forms linked to databases,
discussion groups, guest books, hover buttons... and much,
much more literally in seconds. Things that would take days,
or even weeks, to do "by hand". At the end of our
course you'll be able to do all of these things.
But FrontPage does have its limitations and, despite Microsoft's
dream, you will never do anything very useful with FrontPage
unless you also learn HTML. If you've heard people criticising
FrontPage it's probably because they tried to use it as a
substitute for HTML rather than as a tool to complement their
HTML skills.
Our course will empower you with a comprehensive understanding
of both FrontPage 2000 and the Hypertext Mark-up
Language (HTML). You'll learn HTML almost "by
accident" as it is introduced across the whole course
and put into the context of the higher level operations you'll
be undertaking in the more user-friendly WYSIWYG (What you
see is what you get) view.
Experience has shown that an attempt to begin using FrontPage
at "beginner" level for real-world intranet or Internet
web sites can be a very frustrating experience indeed and
will almost always end in failure. With this in mind
we have structured our FrontPage 2000 tuition as a single
two-day course to give you the comprehensive understanding
you need to make your web site project a success.
Assuming no previous exposure to the web we can take you
to "Expert" level in just two intensive days training
- something that you will probably never achieve by "learning
by doing" or attempting to learn from a book.
If you'd like to talk to a FrontPage expert about your business
objectives we'd love to expand upon how our course and FrontPage
2000 can enable you to succeed.
